George Kieffer (Chairman) is a Board Member of the Harwich Haven Authority, the conservancy and pilotage authority for the Haven ports. He is also Vice-Chairman of Swan Housing Association, one of the largest social landlords in Essex.

From December 2002 until December 2008 he served as a Board Member and was Deputy Chairman (December 2004 - 2008) of the East of England Development Agency.

As Chairman of East of England International, the body responsible for promoting inward investment and international trade services in the East of England, he led the merger of inward investment and international trade activities and he continues to serve the Board as Deputy Chairman with responsibility for emerging countries, in particular India and China.

George Kieffer is a former senior City banker with experience in corporate banking, mergers & acquisitions, management and leveraged buy-outs. He went into industry in 1987 working with one of the Bank's major customers before joining Sega Enterprises Ltd of Japan as Head of European operations and Deputy Chairman. Since 1995 George Kieffer has been an independent company director and consultant in the defence and aerospace industries and in the leisure field.

He is a Freeman of the City of London and a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Turners.
