The Haven Gateway 'sub-region' is one of the fastest growing areas of the UK. Its success is not limited to the maritime world, but extends to a wide number of industries including financial services, technology, print and publishing, food and research.

High educational standards, technical innovation, quality of life, an entrepreneurial spirit and proximity to London and Cambridge all lie behind the area's success.

Tha Haven Gateway's Business Development group is constantly looking at innovative ways or working closely with the private sector to the benefit of the whole sub-region. The group is mainly made up of private sector organisations, including the Chambers of Commerece and the Institute of Directors for both Essex and Suffolk.

The aim of the Business Group is to ensure that the Haven Gateway sub-region becomes known nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence in certain key sectors. This at the current time has focused on Ports and Logistics.
