In order to continually improve the economic growth of the Haven Gateway sub-region, the Haven Gateway has partnered up with the Hampton Roads Economic Alliance the body responsible for the economic growth of the area within the United States around Norfolk, Virginia and Hampton Roads in order to develop links between the two areas and improve trade opportunities.

To this end the two partnerships have agreed the following;

"In the context of their roles as promoters of economic development in their own areas, and within the limits of their own constitutions and priorities, the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance and the Haven Gateway Partnership agree to affiliate in order to:

• work together to promote inward investment in both directions, business partnering and exports in their areas
• develop joint activities to these ends"

The Haven Gateway aims to follow this up with identifying mutual businesses who are based both in the Haven Gateway and Hampton Roads and providing them with advice and support. In addition to this, seminars and conferences will be held in 2007 promoting both sub-regions and the trade links they have which can service not just both of there domestic markets but the global market with the links that they have.
