IiC (Investing in Communities) Introduction

Haven Gateway Partnership IiC Vision

Investiment in Communities'To develop a programme that provides real opportunities for disadvantaged local people to share in the growing economic prosperity of the Haven Gateway.'

Background

In 2003 the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) saw an opportunity to re-think comunity regeneration and worked with partners to launch Investing in Communities - an innovative programme that is driven by local needs and ambitions Investing in Communities was also driven in part by the need to create a response to the end of the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) Programme and pulls together best practice from a variety of national and regional community regeneration programmes.

EEDA is aiming to establish long-term plans with key partners (including the HGP) to tackle disadvantage across the region.  Through Investing in Communities, EEDA is challenging the public, private and voluntary and community sectors to work together to make regeneration really deliver lasting changes for local communities and the region as a whole.

Regional IiC Strategic Priorities

EEDA's priorities for IiC over the next planning period (2007-11) are; Skills, Employment and Enterprise.
