Port-Net

PORT-NET is an EU-Interreg 3c project which was approved in January 2005 by the EU-North Joint Technical Secretariat in Rostock. PORT-NET is a network of 20 partners from 12 EU-states and Russia with the objective of achieving a better understanding of the factors describing a suitable organisation, appropriate operational structures and capacities and an optimal regional integration of ports. On the operational level these objectives of PORT-NET will be achieved by workshops incl. external lecturers and best practice tours at the locations of the partners as well as by external expertise and studies.

Port-NetThe main objective of PORT-NET is to achieve within the participating port communities and beyond a better understanding of the factors which describe a suitable organisation, appropriate operational structures and capacities and an optimal regional integration of ports. Sub-objectives are to increase quality of port services and to encourage cost efficient and environmentally friendly maritime transportation and hinterland structures.

To meet these objectives a modular structure of PORT-NET has been chosen with 19 thematic workshops and 3 best practice tours. These main activities which will be accompanied and supported by external lecturers and expertises, will guarantee comprehensive exchange of experience and best practice Know-how among partners, guests and the interested public.
