Shotley Peninsula Local Strategy

The Shotley Peninsula is an important part of the Haven Gateway Partnership sub-region. The Peninsula provides significant housing, employment and leisure as well as tourism. The rural nature and geographic location of the Peninsula provides specific issues relating to rural services, transport infrastructure, skills and young people. The Shotley Peninsular Local Strategy seeks to identify future action to address these issues.

The key issues are:
(a) identification of the development constraints at the ICI/Wardle Storey site at Brantham, Suffolk and potential end uses and users.
(b) workforce development for Peninsula companies, and skills and recreational issues for young people.
(c) economic development opportunities at Pin Mill (Chelmondiston, Suffolk).
(d) operational issues relating to the proposed year round service for Harwich, Shotley and Felixstowe ferry, and its public transport links.
