Planned cuts of £2.65m to Growth Fund budget

Communities and Local Government Minister, John Healey has written to Council leaders across the Haven Gateway with proposals to reduce the sub-region's Growth Fund by more than £2.65m in 2010/11.
The Growth Fund, managed by the Haven Gateway Partnership is used to facilitate delivery of infrastructure to support new homes and jobs across the sub-region. Key projects currently supported include the A12 junction at Cuckoo Farm (£1.5m); Ipswich Flood Defences (£2.2m) and Innovation Martlesham (£1.5m). The loss of funding will therefore have a significant impact on the delivery of jobs and homes at the very point the sub-region is possibly starting to emerge from recession and it appears directly contradictory to the Government's statement that they wished to support Haven Gateway's priorities and aspirations.
As a consequence, the Partnership has written directly to the Secretary of State - see attached - setting out their gravest concerns and would encourage you to do the same.
