Quality of Life

 The Haven Gateway area is a fabulous place to live and work. Vibrant towns, a long coastline and open countryside contribute to the quality of life and character of the area. Many factors make a place special: good housing, employment opportunities, leisure,cultural facilities and the natural environment. The Haven Gateway has all of these and we are working with our partners to improve them. We are putting in place a wide range of infrastructure, including green infrastructure, to support our growing population.

Quality Green Space

The Haven Gateway has a unique and exceptional natural and historic environment. Green space is a vital part of this area's character and makes a significant contribution to our health and quality of life. Our towns boast award winning parks and are linked to the countryside by paths and cycle routes. Two areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a number of internationally important wildlife sites are a vital part of our national heritage. Green spaces make life better for people and are also crucial for the environment and wildlife. We call this network of green spaces green infrastructure.

Green Infrastructure

Planning for green infrastructure is just as important as planning for roads and public services. Parts of the sub region are expected to come under pressure from planned growth. We have a strategy that sets out our vision for green infrastructure. The strategy identifies where we might need more or better quality green space. We are investing money in 4 initial projects and preparing for new green spaces in the future.
