What is the Haven Gateway Partnership doing?

Shingle beach and information panels, Aldeburgh, Suffolk

Aldeburgh, Suffolk

The development of Green infrastructure (GI) in the Haven Gateway is a high priority and is being driven and guided by a steering group with members from a range of regional and national organisations. As part of the delivery, priority is being given to GI that is natural and publicly accessible. The partners are coordinating resources, including public funding, on a range of projects that respond to the economic and housing growth in the area. The projects will help fill 'gaps' where GI is lacking and enhance existing green spaces needed.

So far we have...

  • Formed a steering group. To find out more click here.
  • Developed a strategy that was adopted in July 2008. Learn more by clicking here.
  • Allocated about £200,000 of Growth Point Funding in 2009/10 to 6 important projects. Learn more about these projects by clicking here.  Learn more about delivery and future actions by clicking here.
  • Launched the I Love Landscapes Campaign and subsequently offered up to £18K of funding through the Green Infrastructure Community Growth Award.  In an attempt to be more innovative it was decided to give the public control over how the funding was allocated by allowing the public to vote for their preferred project or projects. Community groups were invited to send in project proposals and 3 went to an e-vote in April 2011.  The winner will be announced in May.
  • Developed a communication and advocacy strategy including these web pages and a printed flyer.
  • Identified 165 landscape projects that might need developing in the future.

To establish a framework for the delivery of high quality green infrastructure ...

To guide our work we have formed a Steering Group and set ourselves some principles.

The Haven Gateway Green Infrastructure Steering Group developed a strategy.

Developing the strategy represents the first step. Success in delivery will depend on how the strategy is taken forward over the next few years.

Much of the GI that is being developed by the Haven Gateway Partnership is open to the public.

The following is a summary of the main GI related policies.
