Housing
The direction of the GHGSG is informed by the sub regional Housing Strategy which was agreed in 2011. Their vision is: to build on the maturity of the strategic housing partnership and work together on issues that benefit from a collaborative approach. The focus is on how we share information, experience and services to increase value for money, harness economies of scale, and improve efficiencies and the quality of services to benefit all our communities.
Key areas of focus include:
- enabling the development of high quality and sustainable affordable housing in places where people want to live responding to local need
- improving the condition and use of existing housing taking into account social and environmental factors that impact on quality of life.
- maximising customers’ housing choices and mobility taking into account changing housing needs and demographics
- Providing enhanced housing options based on an understanding of the links between health, well being, training, employment and housing to help prevent homelessness and support vulnerable people
The GHGSG meets bi-monthly and revolves the chairing duties annually. Currently, the group is chaired by Peter Whittall from Ipswich Borough Council.
