Walton Masterplan

To produce a Masterplan for Walton capable of being adopted as an Area Action Plan within the District's Local Development Framework (LDF).

The Plan will identify alternative and new uses for key regeneration sites in the town which will create a sustainable future for the town with new employment opportunities.

Project Scope

The masterplan will include a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) and will contribute to the management plan for the adjoining Walton Backwaters as part of the HGP's Green Infrastructure Programme. The Plan will identify appropriate sites for new housing, commercial, retail and industrial sites within the environs of the town. It will be undertaken in accordance with the District Council's approved Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) and other requirement of its LDS scheme.

 

Aims

A Plan capable of adoption as Supplementary Guidance under the existing adopted Local Plan and subsequently as an Area Action Plan under the LDF

 

Outcomes

A masterplan against which future regeneration and investment decisions can be taken and private sector investment secured.

IDP Package: Coastal Towns

Status as at 30 September 2008:

  • Draft brief under preparation
  • Tenders being invited
  • The masterplan will contribute significantly to the Tendring LDF which is currently being prepared.

Status as at 31 December 2008:

  • Brief completed.
  • Tenders being evaluated prior to masterplan work being appointed.

Status as at 31 March 2009:

  • Consultants appointed.
  • Commission commences in April 2009.
  • Delivery timetable for this piece of work has ben adjusted to enable output to feed directly into the District Council's Local Development Framework.
