Scope of the Project
The feasibility study will include:
- Topographical survey
- Ecology and archaeology survey
- Site investigation
- Preliminary inquiries to statutory undertakers
- Engineering development (preliminary design)
- Consultation
Aim
To produce a feasibility study for a cycle/pedestrian bridge at Martlesham, considering best location and whether it is the most suitable form of crossing.
Outcomes
Feasibility study into the new pedestriancycle crossing of A12 at Martlesham. The scheme will encourage greater use of walking and cycling, both to the local schools and to nearby centres of employment. This will help deliver a reduction in congestion over a prolonged period.

- Progress delayed due to issues around possible location of the crossing with regard to land ownership and existing public rights of way.
- Inquiries to statutory undertakers ongoing.

- Progress continues to be delayed due to issues relating to possible locations of the crossing, particularly due to land ownership and access to existing public rights of way.
Status as at 31 March 2010:
- Progress continues to be delayed.
- The assessment of further options, originally scheduled for later in the project, will be brought forward to next quarter.
Status as at 30 June 2010:
- Continued work has been delayed due to related planning issues for Adastral Park planning application.
Status as at 30 September 2010:
- Progress has been delayed due to issues being raised with the possible locations of the crossing with regard to land ownership and existing public rights of way.
