To prepare a full development brief for the Brantham Industrial Site in order to ensure the successful redevelopment of the site for industrial/ commercial purposes.
Project Scope
Investment to focus on the development of a full feasibility analysis for the Brantham Industrial Site.
Aims
Development of feasibility analysis to bring the site back into use, to deliver new jobs and other economic and environmental benefits. No progress on the site's delivery is possible until this analysis is carried out.
Outcomes
Long term outputs expected in terms of job creation and/ or protection (on/ off site); local and wider economic growth; likely visual / aesthetic improvements; and making use of brownfield site (removing pressure from Greenfield land). In addition it is likely to contribute to Haven Gateway Suffolk target of 30,000 new jobs by 2021 and balancing housing growth.

Funding for 2008/09 £70,000
Status as at 30 September 2008:
- Some preliminary work carried out by Babergh District Council in relation to the planning position statement.
- Appointed consultant.
Status as at 31 December 2008:
- Specification for feasibility study to be worked up to include flood risk, decontamination, access and infrastructure.
Status as at 31 March 2009:
- Initial work has been completed in relation to a key site development issue - flood risk
- Planning permission statement completed.
- Next step to re-contact landowner rep and planning consultant rep to progress work jointly.
Status as at 30 June 2009:
- Flood risk assessment for site now completed.
- Project group set up with owners, consultants and Babergh District Council.
- Initial meeting held with Environment Agency and project group to discuss SFRA outputs and other future work required.
- Draft scoping report prepared to inform initial discussions on draft feasibility study.
- New lead officer appointed and in post.
Status as at 30 September 2009:
- Additional site clearance by owners.
- Various contracts let for evidence base data collection.
- Ongoing meetings/discussions with statutory bodies.
- Ongoing liaison on project with owners/developers.
Status as at 31 December 2009:
- Initial work on feasibility study completed in relation to a key site development issue - flood risk.
- Flood risk assessment completed.
- Project group set up with owners and Babergh District Council to take project forward.
- Meetings held with Environment Agency and project group.
- Draft scoping report prepared to inform initial discussions on feasibility study.
Status as at 31 March 2010:
- Feasibility studies commissioned.
Status as at 30 June 2010:
- Formal appointment of consultants for Flood Risk Assessment, Transport Assessment and Foul and Surface Water Drainage studies.
- Receipt of draft final report on ecology.
Status as at 30 September 2010:
- Reports completed to final draft stage pending viability review and public consultation.
- Public consultation event delayed due to additional work being needed to resolve a highway design issue.
