Felixstowe and Ipswich Growth Node

Date Started: 01/05/2008

Date Ended: 31/03/2009

Growth Point

The proposed studies examine the transport implications of proposals for the allocation of housing and employment developments being examined in the emerging Local Development Framework in the Ipswich and Felixstowe areas.

Scope of the Project

The areas around Ipswich and Felixstowe related to employment and housing development being examined as part of the Local Development Framework.

Aim of the Project

  • To examine the transport implications of the locations, separately and in combination at the proposed and higher levels of dwelling numbers.
  • To consider them against the existing and proposed major areas of development, based on information on existing commuting travel patterns.
  • To consider the potential for transport infrastructure and service improvements to cater for the growth and estimate the capital and revenue costs involved.
  • To consider the potential for better sustainable transport patterns, through design and active mode facilities.

Outcomes of the Project

Transport studies in relation to new housing and employment growth.
