Harwich Quay Public Realm Improvements

The project is needed to provide the stimulus required for inward investment and development of the overall Masterplan objectives.

Inline with the Harwich Masterplan, this project covers the detailed design work to the quayside element.

Scope of the Project

Design and deliver phase 1a and the pedestrian project of the urban design and to take phases 1b to 4 through to final design.

Aim of the Project

To implement public realm improvements along Harwich Quayside.

Outcomes of the Project

  • New jobs created and existing jobs will be safeguarded
  • Other public sector and private sector investment will be generated by this fundng.
  • The number of residents and visitors using the quayside will increase.
  • New homes and affordable homes will be created.
  • Brownfield land will be reclaimed and redeveloped for soft use in future years.
  • Sustainability will form part of the design consideration
  • Tourism will be promoting the work.

  • Piling in nearly completed.
  • Work continues to secure attractions to use the mooring provision.
