This project will provide a comprehensive signage and information system linking transport modes around the town centre including the railway station and waterfront.
Scope of the Project
The project will deliver the following:
- A comprehensive signage system throughout the town centre.
- Large and small map based sign monoliths showing major arrival points, large public spaces, key decision points, major dwelling spaces, route planners designed to aid planning journeys and key areas of the town.
- Hard copy detailed map of the town centre including the waterfront showing public facilities, commercial activities and public transport infrastructure.
- Downloadable information on prime locations.
- Real time passenger information.
Aim of the Project
The aim of this project is to provide key walking and cycling routes around the town centre, improving accessibility and connection, encouraging sustainable transport health living. The comprehensive information and signage system will give relevant information at every stage of the journey through the town centre and waterfront.
Outcomes of the Project
It is intended that this project will:
- Bring social and economic benefits as well as environmental enhancements.
- Meet aims under Transforming Ipswich in relation to effective urban design.
- Meet transport objectives.
- Improve Ipswich as a tourist, cultural and business destination.
