Examination of the transport implications of proposals for the allocation of housing and employment developments being examined in the emerging LDF in the Stowmarket area.
Scope of the Project
A transport study looking at Stowmarket and the surrounding area.
Aim of the Project
- To examine transport implications of the locations, separately and in combination, at the proposed and higher levels of dwelling numbers.
- To consider them against the existing and proposed major centres of employment, based on information on existing commuting patterns.
- To consider the potential for better sustainable transport patterns, through design and active mode facilities, through minimising the need to travel at source, and through the provision of access to modes of transport other than the private car.
- To identify the nature and scale of impact of this scale of growth at key highway junctions and to identify where possible first ideas for the development of mitigation measures.

Status as at 30 September 2009:
- Stage one site assessment complete.
- Stage two spreadsheet model exercise and workshops complete.
- Report for Mid Suffolk LDF core strategy nearing completion.
Status as at 31 December 2009:
- Exlporation of mitigation issues delayed due to issues highlighted by Planning Inspector on core strategy.
Status as at 31 March 2010:
- Exploration of mitigation issues not completed due to delay above.
- Transport report partly developed.
