Project Scope
The study will :
- Examine the feasibility of a rapid transport corridor.
- Identify a preferred option which will help deliver development.
Aims
East Colchester is a key growth area catering for a substantial allocation of the town housing and employment allocation.
Outcomes
The study is vital in securing the development of difficult brownfield mised use sites in a congested area of East Colchester, LDF allocates 2600 new dwellings. Passenger Transport solutions would provide sustainable links to housing, services and employment.
It would also free up network capacity, allowing further land for development to be released. Feasibility work is essential to identify a preferred option and secure land to deliver sustainable public transport and quantify the level of growth which can be supported.

- Initial discussion of what the feasibility study should report have been discussed and agreed with the consultant.
Status as at 31 December 2008:
- Consultant undertaking feasibility study.
Status as at 31 March 2009:
- Consultant continues to write report drafting various options for East Colchester Rapid Transport link solutions.
