More than 100 Braintree business representatives gathered at the Essex Golf and Country Club in Earls Colne today to lend their support for investment in the A120. The event was hosted by the Haven Gateway Partnership who have been leading the A120 campaign, and James Cleverly MP (Con, Braintree) – a key supporter of improving the A120.
A formal consultation into dualling the A120 between Braintree and the A12 will open in January 2017, and over the coming months the A120 campaign will be hosting a series of business led events to demonstrate the overwhelming support that the campaign holds amongst local businesses.
George Kieffer, Chairman of the Haven Gateway Partnership, commented:
“It is no surprise that 100 over Braintree businesses gave up their Friday lunch hour to support the A120 campaign today. We were delighted to see not only longstanding supporters at today’s event, but many new businesses that have not been involved in the campaign to date. We know that the A120 is holding us back economically, and we will only achieve the local infrastructure we deserve if our local business community make themselves heard loud and clear when the consultation opens in January. We look forward to a continuation of these businesses led campaign events in Colchester next month and in Harwich, Witham and Suffolk later in the year.”
James Cleverly, MP for Braintree added:
“Improving the A120 is vital for our local economy. This important event sought to prove just how much support there is within our local business community for this much needed change. From today’s event, it is clear that this support is growing rapidly. I would like to thank the Haven Gateway Partnership for organising this very significant event.”
