Almost 3,000 residents and businesses have led the way in the consultation for the new improved A120.
Response numbers are still being collated but currently stand at just short of 3,000 – with the majority coming online through the website www.a120essex.co.uk.
A further 3,143 attended 11 public information events throughout the consultation.
The A120 consultation also saw video content feature heavily for the first time. Video fly-throughs of what each route could look like from above were available for each of the five routes as well as video case studies with businesses affected by the route.
These were well received with more than 22,000 people viewing videos on YouTube and across the Essex County Council social media feeds.
Cllr Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Infrastructure and Partnerships, said: “The A120 Braintree to A12 consultation has clearly captured the public’s imagination and I am delighted we have had a strong response.
“Investing and improving key transport links across Essex is a key aim for this Council as it is vital to helping to keep Essex moving and promoting economic growth
“Over the coming weeks and months we will be pulling all these responses together and analysing them with a view to taking a report to the County Council’s Cabinet and announcing the Council’s preferred option.
“This will then form the basis of our push to get a scheme into the Government’s next Road Investment Strategy period. If successful the road could be built between 2020 and 2025.”
